Nissan Sentra: The Not So "Compact" Vehicle

Who says a compact car can't deliver spacious passenger room and still haul plenty of cargo? Certainly not Nissan. The Nissan engineers designed the Sentra to comfortably seat five passengers and offer an eye-popping 111 cubic feet of interior space. The Sentra comes in eight different model configurations which include S, SV, SR, SR Midnight Edition, SR Turbo, SR Turbo Midnight Edition, SL and Nismo®.Each offers a wide variety of customization/personalization options to fit your driving needs and preferences.

Nissan put a significantly affordable price on the new Sentra model, but didn't sacrifice any amenities in doing so. In fact, the interior of this new Nissan vehicle is borderline luxurious with available leather appointments, heated seats, black piano trim and leather wrapped steering wheel. The Sentra comes chock-full of technology as well with a color touchscreen display providing access to NissanConnect® navigation, mobile apps and services. It's just another example of how Nissan put the "you" in value when they designed the new Sentra.

Learn More About the 2017 Nissan Sentra

While most manufacturers play it safe with their compact vehicle exterior designs, Nissan went the exact opposite way. The new 2017 Sentra model's exterior features sleek, bold lines that give it an overall sporty profile. Plus - Sentra's available seventeen-inch alloy wheels are sure to turn heads when you are driving the streets of Phoenix.

The interior of the new 2017 Nissan Sentra is among the most spacious of any vehicle in its class. There's plenty of room for up to five passengers plus room for tons of gear due to the 60/40 split rear seats and fold down passenger seat features. Interior technology on the new 2017 Sentra is headlined by a color touchscreen, hands-free phone technology and available Bose premium sound system. Plus - there's the available dual zone automatic temperature control system on the new Sentra that's a nice touch as well.

Sentra's 1.8L engine delivers outstanding fuel efficiency through Nissan's exclusive Xtronic CVT® transmission. This transmission matches driving demands by holding the engine at the optimal RPM when in passing and cruising situations. This helps maximize fuel economy and provides what Nissan describes as a virtually "shiftless" driving experience.

How the Nissan Sentra Came to Be

The Nissan Sentra was introduced to the North American market in 1982. This car was the second vehicle released in this market under the Nissan nameplate. The Sentra hit two major milestones in its first years of existence. First, the EPA ranked the Sentra's gas mileage as the best of any gasoline powered engine sold at the time. Second, the Sentra became the best-selling import vehicle in the North American market during its first year on sale. How's that for first impressions?

Over the years, the Nissan Sentra began to evolve from a value driven sub-compact vehicle into the larger compact sized vehicle it remains today. In 1989, Nissan tweaked the body style of the Sentra for the market and in 1999 a brand new re-designed Sentra was launched into the market. The Sentra continued to deliver superb fuel efficiency ratings, but with this model year Nissan began to incorporate more high-end features into the vehicle.

The seventh-generation of the Nissan Sentra hit the market in 2013. This model underwent a complete re-design from previous generations and now more closely mirrored the higher-end styling of all the other Nissan vehicles. The Sentra continues to impress first time and longtime buyers, and consistently receives numerous automotive industry awards year after year.
